Self-catering accommodation is a hugely growing sector, largely as a result of the collapse in the domestic property market — a huge number of newly-built properties remain unsold, so the owners are letting them to visitors.
This is particularly true of properties in scenic locations, where the owners originally hoped to sell as holiday homes — but that market has now dried up.
As a result, there are many bargains to be found — beautiful houses or apartments, with all modern conveniences, being let out for affordable rates, especially when sharing with others.
